This was the day one year ago that I saw my dear husband's smile or heard his gentle voice. He "lived" another 5 days attached to machines. I can't believe it's been a year. I can close my eyes and see the whole terrible incident in minute detail. Just thinking about it brings back that time of terror and sadness.
For those who don't know the story. Eddie was packing my lunch and popped a piece of shredded ham in his mouth and choked. I attempted the Heimlich and when he collapsed I did CPR until the medics came. It took them 25 minutes to get a heartbeat. But he never regained consciousness and my daughter and I made the heartbreaking decision to remove life support.
I want to thank all those who supported us during that time and continue to be there today. I love you all.
